It is well known that the US president Donald Trump is a big fan of Twitter, and that it is the social network he is very active on, and it seems that just Twitter could have caused and a new friendship – his wife Melanie and American actress and model Emily Ratajkowski. At the Grammy Awards Ratajkowski sat by New York Times journalist who called the first lady derogatory names and actress decided to stand in her defense via Twitter.
‘Sat next to a journalist from the NYT last night who told me “Melania is a hooker.” Whatever your politics it’s crucial to call this out for’ she wrote on Twitter (Ratajkowski). She added – ‘what it is: slut shaming. I don’t care about her nudes or sexual history and no one should.’ At first glance it is surprising that Ratajkowski rises to protect Melania Trump because she previously often tweeted expressing her dissatisfaction with the Trumps policy, banning the entry of immigrants in the United States and supported the women’s march in Washington. But she also often speaks against insults made towards women, stigmatization of female sexuality and sexist portrayal of women in media.
Melania Trump has experienced numerous misogynistic attacks during the campaign, especially since Donald Trump won and stood at her side, Emily Ratajkowski showed consistency and courage to resist the established ways of thinking. In this case it is quite right – regardless of political affiliation, gender-based abuse is always unacceptable.
First Lady quickly thanked her for the support, is this a start of a new lovely friendship?!
