Winter Wonderland @ London Fashion Week

Anya Hindmarch presented a Scandinavian inspired collection of women’s accessories for winter at London Fashion Week. The colorful collection contained a variety of luxurious satchels, handbags and shoes. The fashion show was named: “Vetr”, which is the Icelandic word for winter, the show itself transporting us to a winter wonderland.

The catwalk embraced the winter atmosphere, having the aspect of a snow covered mountains, which welcomed us to the winter vibe. Also, the models blended nicely with the scenery by wearing furry hats and glasses that looked like goggles. However, the most important things were the colorful handwoven leather straps, the small purses and the structured backpacks that were the highlight of the show.

The handbags were decorated with a variety of clipped on decorations like: colorful garlands, layered hearts and sparkly butterflies. Simply magical! The material used for the creations were vegetable tanned leather, suede and also long haired shearling. They combined colors such as pink, blue, mustard yellow, brown and gray. The techniques were modern interpretation of traditional leather craft such as Scandinavian Kurbits and some complex hand-woven work.

The models wore playful chunky knits with shorts, wool and felt coats and also capes that had colorful furry collars. Some of the outfits were even adorned with furry shawls.  As for the footwork, the designer combined embellished clogs which were furry on the inside, sandals and creeper shoes with socks. Also, there were some furry slippers on the catwalk.

According to the fashion designer, her collection for Autumn / Winter 2017 highlights the contrast between what is perceived as romantic winter, wanderlust and the dark motifs that can be found the Old Norse folklore.

We don’t know about you guys, but we are totally digging those furry shoes that seem like they could keep us warm during the winter.
