“So I Made It To Harvard” – Rihanna Receives Humanitarian Award From Harvard

I am not sure whether it was a prouder moment for Rihanna herself or for us who have been her fans for years!
She has never let us down has she?

She did it yet again, this time Harvard style!

At the crowd gathered at the Harvard University’s Sanders Theatre yesterday, Rihanna said, “So I finally made it to Harvard.”
Then she flipped back her ponytail and smirking, she added, “Never thought I would say that but it feels good.”

Rihanna just received Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year Award and it was indeed a surreal moment for the pop star herself and for us. But her charitable contributions have been outstanding for sure, no doubt.

She has been running her Non-Profit organization Clara Lionel Foundation smoothly and they have been working together tirelessly to support the schooling of children in impoverished communities all over the world since 2012.
And she didn’t stop there. She has also roped in the fashion world in her philanthropic activities to extend her reach.
Dior made the announcement today that they will be donating a portion of the sales proceeds of their feminist slogan tees to the foundation.

So what did Rihanna wear to the ceremony?

She looked nothing short of perfection wearing a de-constructed off-the-shoulder cinched waist Monse dress with a statement over sized belt. She complemented the look with a pair of herring bone over-the-knee boots. The whole campus sure had something to learn from her; a lesson in selflessness as well as one on how to “power dress” for an occasion from the point of view of a sophisticated and accomplished philanthropist.
The icing on the cake was of course her inspiring speech.

The designers of Monse, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia called Rihanna’s dress as “unhinged day wear” which is essentially a disruptive twist on the conservative skirt suit.

Now that’s the kind of thing that the world always needs more of, I mean the heart to help people in need and the brains to dress like a true winner in all respects.
Our very own Rihanna is all that and more and I am a proud fan of hers. Are you?
