Music – It is different for different people. It is more of a pass time or maybe just a diversion for some people. While for others it may be a luxury or it may mean their whole life.
It is difficult really, to state the real value of music as it is highly subjective.
But here’s a thought that you probably won’t argue about;
Music is a passion for some people, and it is those people who have become the greatest musicians of all time in this world and entertained us for years. Some of them are living, while a lot of others have passed on, even though they still live in our memories through the music they created of course.
As for us who enjoy and idolize their music, well, who knows, some of us might have the same passion for music as those musicians as well.
A good example to prove the possibility of that would be these guitars that were auctioned off for staggering prices.
Here are 3 guitars that were owned and used by some of the greatest legends in the music industry, who came, saw and conquered. These guitars were auctioned and sold for jaw-dropping prices that you may find hard to believe. Now doesn’t that prove just how much of a passion the buyers had for the musician’s music?
Eric Clapton’s 1939 Martin Acoustic
This Martin was used by the great Eric Clapton to play his 90’s smash hit “Tears in heaven” throughout MTV Unplugged in 1992. The guitar was auctioned in the year 2004 and it fetched a whopping $791,500 along with the title of the “Most Expensive Acoustic Guitar Ever Sold”.
Bob Dylan’s 1964 Fender Stratocaster
This particular guitar marks Bob Dylan’s transition into electrical instruments at the Newport Folk Festival. This one sold for a staggering $965,000.
Jimi Hendrix’s 1968 Fender Stratocaster
This Stratocaster quite literally swept the auctions in the year 1998. It is characterized by its sleek Olympic white finish, which often made it look ordinary. It was used by Hendrix while he played the famous rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner”. It was reportedly sold for an impressive $2 million.
I’m really impressed with the kind of money that these legendary pieces were sold for.
Would you spend this kind of money for an instrument or a garment that your favorite star once used?
